I’ve rode Penmachno probably 4-5 times over the span of 10 years and will be there again in three weeks, i’ve rode it in 35 degree heat once and in the rain other times, i simply love it, it’s a beautifully precise experience and the opposite of bermy jumpy 10ft wide motorways, it’s my Morzine / Les Gets antidote which i also love, and it’s that difference that makes it, warp speed to the car park every time!!

I have some old 9-speed Deore LX Shimano shifter/ brake combo, and a 9-speed Shimano SLX (662) r mech, would these be compatible , it all works fine now with all shimano, finding it v hard to find this out? I really like the shifters and levers especially

My two bikes are this one and my Kona Explosif. They're definitely thunder and lightning. If I wanna climb, go fast or commute, the Kona is an excellent choice. If I wanna sit back and plow through shit, the Chromag is always up for the task. It feels like the Cadillac of hardtail. You're not going the fastest, but it's always a smooth ride.

At 219 if you had gone through that gate and followed the path around you would have been at the top of a chalk escarpment and it drops to 20% grade and is my go to downhill ride I've got 52 mph down there and it comes out on the Bowcombe estate! Great video

Glad it’s not just me. My lad and I did this recently and won’t be back. We rode it a few years ago and it was a bit better then. Now it’s really overgrown, very wet even though we had dry weather, several single track sections were closed due to storm damage, diversions were in place but weren’t well signposted. It all feels a bit abandoned!

this is not a turbine hub, but a Vault... turbines are rims or that's what the whole set is called. i have it too and it's great.

the "trapped nut" system to mount the rear board with the bike mounts onto the van floor was an elegant and strong solution. I like it and plan to try something similar on my Dodge Grand Caravan

So i see rockshox is 50 hours for the uppers and 200 hours for the lowers is it mandatory to service uppers every 50 hours seems so frequently

Its good for families, or the casual MTB ride. If i want to a better test I tend to go to Cannock Chase. Hemlock Stone is worth a trip in Nottingham. Its more DH and pump track, they are short but technical. A lot of down and push up 🙂

I’ll only ride there after a good few days dry summer weather which is rare for those parts It doesn’t get much attention from the maintenance crews /broken bridges and north shore like you highlighted Very isolated and sketchy It’s supposed to be the wettest trail in Europe 😂

My Cannondale Trail Six loves being a Mullet. The 29er 2.25 front and 2.8 rear with the 350w e-hub makes for a beastie. I might mention it has drop bars and a SRAM groupset.

It’s more of a natural xc route. I love it there and massive thanks to the volunteers who maintain it.

I'm currently on a 2020 Rootdown, and this may be my next bike - these old bones are in need of a full squish. Debating on a M/L vs. a Large, the Rootdown's low stack has always had me feeling like a slightly shorter reach would help. That said, I've never lifted the front tire on anything aboard the Rooty, so I expect the same feel from this bike.

They have e-matrix ones which is improved version of race matrix. For MTB lovers, downhillers may prefer e-matrix over race matrix.

The red trail is the opposite direction of the blue. Other side of the car park away from the buildings. Also have a jump park on the red trail about half way round. The red trail doesn’t really overlap the blue other than to cross a path or two.

You only rode about half the Raven, you completely missed out the top (best) section because you went up the blue singletrack climb instead of the second black climb, maybe it was closed when you were there due to forestry.
